Diary Writing
I would teach a lesson about Anne Frank following our work based on the Holocaust where we would read some extracts from her diary and explore how she lived and what she did when she was alive during World War II.
Then I would get the children to write some diary entries in role of a child during World War II. To trigger the children's thinking and to inform the children of what life was like and what children did during World War II, I would play them some excerpts from the BBC Schools website to set the scene in their minds.

Planning your Diary Entry
During the planning stage of writing a diary entry, I would encourage the children to use the 5 W questions to help them plan a good diary entry. I would also give them a planning template where they can organise their ideas on a page.
Publishing your Diary Entries
Then to finish their Diary Entries, I would get the children to dab tea bags on pieces of paper and let them dry. The following day, I would get the children to write their Diary Entries on their old fashioned paper and put them on display.
